My grandmother, Jane, had a quaint little closet in her basement where she stored canned goods; her personal mini grocery shop. I too have such a closet in the back hall off the kitchen. In our historic home, this was once the cooks closet with a rack for hanging clothes and aprons. Now here resides my store of ingredients jarred or in tetra packaging. I check the inventory every few weeks. These are valuable in everyday cooking. Ideally we make our own stock, roast our own peppers and soak and cook beans. But we cannot always take these steps but with a curated pantry, cooking daily is not only possible but is enjoyable.
