How Cooking Can Change Your Life

How Cooking Can Change Your Life

This two minute,  to-the-point video by Michael Pollan reinforces why cooking at home is so important.  Pollan says in his study of nutrition he found what predicted a healthy diet more than anything else was the fact that it was cooked by a human being and not a corporation.  Michael Pollan is a food writer and activist who has penned a number of award winning and popular books.  {You've probably read at least one.} His latest work is Cooked: A Natural History of Transformation.  Michael Pollan always gives us quite serious food for thought and here in this video with silly sketches and a pinch of humor, he reminds us nicely of what most of us intuitively know: cook from scratch.

Cooking is not just a topic for people who like to cook.  It's not just for entertaining friends or entertaining ourselves by reading about food and watching food TV.  Cooking is for everyone and for those who think it's not, or just don't like to cook, then maybe changing the expectations of cooking - what we put into it and what we get out of it -  it is in order.  Maybe it's time to simplify the whole of cooking.  Maybe in simplifying cooking we find we can also simplify our lives.
